Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2024 • Status: Draft
At ToolForge, we believe privacy should be built into the core architecture of web utilities. Our platform is designed around a client-side execution model, meaning your files and sensitive data are processed right inside your browser whenever possible.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to operate and improve the platform. Because ToolForge focuses on browser-based utilities, the nature of data handled differs significantly from traditional cloud services:
Your Files and Input Data
The seven available image, PDF, QR, and JSON tools process their inputs in your browser. ToolForge does not upload those files or inputs to its server. Other listed tools are not yet functional. Downloading an output is your choice; files are not stored by ToolForge.
Local Storage Preferences
We use your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember your light/dark theme preference. ToolForge does not send that preference as part of tool processing.
Technical and Usage Data
Loading the site sends ordinary requests to its hosting provider. Those requests can include an IP address, user agent, time, and requested page or asset. The provider may process or retain request logs under its own policies. Tool inputs are not included in these site requests.
2. How We Use Information
The site and available tools use information for the following purposes:
- Delivering Tool Functionality: Enabling browser-side computations, file conversions, and utilities without retaining your personal assets.
- Maintaining Preferences: Applying your chosen UI settings, including color mode and display adjustments.
- Platform Reliability: Monitoring static deployment health, diagnosing page rendering errors, and mitigating malicious traffic patterns.
- No Sale or Profiling: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or broker your personal information or file contents to any third party.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The current site does not include an advertising or analytics integration. If these are added later, this notice will be updated to explain what data they collect and what choices you have.
The current site uses this browser preference:
- Theme Storage: A simple key (
toolforge-theme) stored in your browser to remember whether you prefer light or dark mode. - Browser Controls: You can clear your browser storage or disable cookies at any time via your browser settings. Doing so may reset your theme preference to the system default, but will not prevent you from using the tools.
4. Third-Party Services
Our static infrastructure is hosted on modern cloud edge delivery networks (such as Cloudflare Pages). These infrastructure providers deliver static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and font assets to your browser.
- Infrastructure & CDN: Cloudflare Pages delivers the site and may log request metadata, such as IP addresses and timestamps, according to its own policies. Local tool inputs are not sent as part of the tool operation.
- External Links: Our website may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We have no control over the privacy practices of external platforms, and we encourage you to review their policies independently.
5. Data Security
We adopt security-by-design principles to protect your information:
- Local Processing: Available tools process selected files in browser memory rather than sending their contents to ToolForge. Your browser, device, downloaded outputs, and any extensions or cloud-sync features you use remain under your own control and policies.
- HTTPS Encryption: All traffic between your browser and ToolForge is encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
- Static Architecture: As a fully static site without centralized application databases, our surface area for server-side data leaks is minimized.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in our tools, technology, or legal requirements. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
As noted in the banner above, this document is currently a draft and will undergo final review before the official public launch of ToolForge. If you have questions about our privacy practices, please contact us via our Contact page.
